Q - Do you use preservatives?
Water based products can become contaminated by bacteria which could potentially transfer to the skin. For the Shea & Cocoa Butter Body Cream, Shea Dead Sea Salt Scrub and Shea Sugar Scrub, it is required, by law to use a preservative to reduce the risk of this happening. The preservative is parabens and formaldehyde free. Just Shea and Whipped Shea do not contain any preservatives.
Q - Why do you use fragrances and essential oils?
For those lucky enough not to have any skin sensitivities, we've added a range of Essential Oils and Fragrances. An aroma can be as uplifting to the senses as our creams are to your skin! The percentage of fragrance that we use in our products is such that the scent is not overpowering, but subtle. We only use essential oils and synthetic fragrances from reputable suppliers, who have been approved by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA) and who declare all potential allergens present in their fragrances. These are clearly labelled on each scented product. Please see the list of Essential Oils and Fragrances that we use.
Q - What if I have allergies or am pregnant?
If you are allergic to latex, you will want to do a small patch test. If you are pregnant, some essential oils must not be used. For more detailed information, please see the Sensitivities and Allergies page, and also the Mother and Baby page.
Q - Why do you use plastic jars intead of glass ones?
We use PET plastic jars which are completely recyclable.
Q - Have your products been tested?
Yes, all of our products have been laboratory tested and comply with the EU Cosmetics Directive.
Q - Are your products tested on animals?
No - we only test on human volunteers. Most of our products are suitable for vegetarian/vegan customers since our ingredients are botanical in origin. If you want vegan products, simply choose the Olive Oil Wax option where stated (Shea & Cocoa Butter Lotion Bar and Shea Butter Lip Balm).
